Flu Vaccinations - Seasonal

The flu vaccine offers protection against the influenza virus, which can cause an infection of the lungs, nose and throat. The virus can potentially lead to severe and complicated health implications; therefore, it is administered on a yearly basis via the NHS during the autumn/winter season to the elderly and ‘high-risk’ patients.

So, who is eligible for a FREE vaccine (subject to change)?

Over 65s
Individuals with long term health conditions: relating to the heart, liver, kidneys and lungs
Diabetics
Living with individuals that have a weakened immune system
Pregnant women
Frontline Health and Social care workers

Who cannot have the Flu Vaccine?

Majority of patients will have no issues with the flu vaccine.

However, you cannot have the vaccine if you have had a serious allergic (anaphylactic) reaction to a previous dose.
Some of the vaccines contain egg protein, individuals with an egg allergy must inform the vaccinator prior to the procedure to check their suitability for alternative flu vaccines.
Individuals with a fever (high temperature), must delay the vaccine until they’ve recovered.
